Coming to substack was a matter of interest and an opportunity to read other writers’ kaupapa. And to bring the burgeoning genre of Māori Cosmic, to readers and writers alike.
I wanted to be a writer focused on telling stories of adventure and drama, fiction and non-fiction. Stories told in poetic and verse formats of unrequited love and lost-to-found chances of better lives in cosmic worlds and dimensions. And that I do.
But I also write and create imagery, about my experiences of racism and the hardship of accessing my neighbourhood and community. And, the resources for decolonisation. I write about the colonised child whose journey is held in the hands of the lone wahine dwelling in the inner city. I’m a newbie at podcasting my latest delves into clearing trauma from discrimination. Honestly, these are not new kaupapa. But the approach to the topic is challenging to be unique.
What you as the reader will have access to is the coal of living as a colonised child embracing the truth of that finality. And discovering their indigenuity along the way.
